What information is available

You can obtain information in the following ways:

Environmental Protection Agency Act 1992 as amended

Under these Acts we are obliged to make certain information available to the public, including information on:

  • IE, IPC licensing and enforcement
  • Environmental monitoring
  • State of the environment reporting
  • Reports on various sectors including drinking water, urban waste water and landfills

We provide this information either online, as publications or for inspection/copying by members of the public in our headquarters at Johnstown Castle Estate, Co Wexford.

You can obtain information about our decisions under the Environmental Protection Agency Acts 1992 as amended online through this website at  any point of access to the internet or at the Agency's offices at designated public terminals.

Waste Management Act 1996 as amended

You can obtain information about our decisions under the Waste Management Act 1996 as amended online through this website at any point of access to the internet or at the Agency's offices at designated public terminals.

 

Under the Waste Management (Licensing) Regulations, the following information is on public file and open to inspection:

  • Documents received from applicants and our correspondence with them
  • Information about third-party submissions and objections
  • Written reports we prepare for making decisions on waste licences, and copies of the proposed and final decisions

 

Genetically Modified Organisms Regulations

We maintain a register of GMO users under these regulations. It can be inspected free of charge at our headquarters during office hours. Copies of entries are available for a nominal fee.

Access to Information on the Environment Regulations

You can obtain information, from the EPA, relating to the environment not obtainable under other legislation under the Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) Regulations, 2007 to 2014.

Environmental Information is defined in the AIE Regulations and determines what is available under the AIE Regulations. 

Information that does not come within the scope of the definition of Environmental Information, and which is not already publicly available, can be requested under the Freedom of Information Act 2014.
