Report On The Solvents Directive Pilot Audits 2004

Executive Summary

This report provides an overview of the results of a series of pilot audits of solvent-using activities covered by the Solvents Directive (1999/13/EC) and Statutory Instrument No 543 of 2002. The audits were conducted in March and April 2004 at three vehicle refinishers and two dry cleaners in different parts of the country.

The audits found that although awareness of the general existence of the solvents regulations was good among those surveyed, there was a need for a greater level of understanding of the specific requirements for the relevant business sectors.
