Annual Environmental Reports

The Annual Environmental Report (AER) is a requirement for all EPA licensed facilities. The Environmental Protection Agency is currently standardising the content of the AER to collect only relevant, interpreted data from licensees. The content of the AER should give a concise summary of the environmental performance of the site for the previous reporting year as well as a record of on-going improvements on the licensed site. The Draft AER Guidance  is intended to assist in standardising the reporting format of the AER for IPPC and Waste licensed facilities.

Annual Environmental Reports (AERs)  are now available on the EPA website.  These documents relate to facilities licensed under the following licence types:

  • Integrated Pollution Control (IPC)
  • Industrial Emissions (IE)
  • Waste Water Discharge (WWDL)
  • Waste Licence

Search now for IE and IPCWaste Water Discharge Authorisation, Waste or Dumping at Sea AERs.

The AER/PRTR reporting Annual Environmental Reporting Website section of the EPA website facilitates the electronic reporting of environmental information through the upload of the pdf AER and the PRTR Emissions Reporting Workbook. As set out in the PRTR Regulations, releases of pollutants and off-site transfers of waste by facilities operating in relevant industrial sectors will be reported to the EPA on an annual basis via the sector specific PRTR Emissions Reporting Workbook.

The National PRTR Website contains information on the emissions and waste transfers of all Irish facilities that exceed the reporting thresholds set out in the PRTR Regulations.

The European PRTR provides similar information for the wider European Union, including Ireland.
