EPA prosecutes T & J Standish (Roscrea) Limited

On 5 December 2005 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted T & J Standish (Roscrea) Limited at Roscrea District Court.  The Company pleaded guilty to:

• Allowing polluting matter to enter groundwater, and surface water in drains on two separate occasions. Allowing polluting matter to discharge to off-site surface waters and to enter the Fuarawn River.

• Failing to ensure protection of areas where materials were being loaded and unloaded.

On hearing details of the alleged offences, Judge Haughton imposed fines totalling €2,400 and the EPA’s costs of €30,000 were also awarded.
