EPA prosecutes Liffey Meats (Cavan) Limited

On 1 July 2011 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Liffey Meats (Cavan) Limited at Virginia District Court.  The Company pleaded guilty to:

1. Failing to render drum storage areas impervious to the materials stored therein and failing to bund the tank and drum storage areas;
2. Failing to report on the testing of underground tanks and pipelines.

On hearing details of the offences Judge Sean McBride imposed fines of €2,500.  The Agency’s costs of €4,990 were also awarded.
