EPA prosecutes Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society

On 28 September 2011 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society t/a Lakeland Dairies Drying Plant at Carrickmacross District Court.  The Company pleaded guilty to:

1. Permitting specified emissions to water from the installation which exceeded the emission limit values set out in Schedule B.2 of its Licence within the period commencing on the 5 October 2010 and ending on the 24 November 2010.
2. Failing to notify the Agency as soon as practicable after the occurrence of the emissions within that period which did not comply with the requirements of the licence.

On hearing details of the offences Judge McBride imposed fines totalling €1,000.  The Agency’s costs of €5,737.85 were also awarded.
