EPA prosecutes Glanbia Foods Ireland Limited

On 27 May 2014 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Glanbia Foods Ireland Limited (formerly Glanbia Foods Society Limited) at Kilkenny District Court. The Company pleaded guilty to:

• Exceeding the emission limit values for ammonia between 6 and 15 January 2013 and between 10 and 14 March 2013;
• Failing to notify the Agency of incidents and emissions that did not comply with the requirements of its Licence;
• Failing to submit to the Agency an Annual Environmental Report covering the calendar year 2012.

Judge Eamon O’Brien convicted the Company and imposed a fine of €500. Agency costs of €4,917.98 were also awarded.
