EPA prosecutes Country Clean Recycling

On 9 January 2015 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Country Clean Recycling at Cork District Court. The Company pleaded guilty to:

• Failure to ensure that activities were carried out in a manner such that emissions, including odours, did not result in impairment of and/or interference with amenities or the environment beyond the facility boundary on three separate occasions.
• Failure to store all separately collected bio-waste in suitably covered and enclosed containers within the waste transfer building.
• Failure to store all wastes and materials within the waste transfer building.
• Failure to install and maintain adequate measures to control odour and dust emissions, including fugitive emissions, from the facility.

Judge Olann Kelleher convicted the Company and imposed a fine of €2,000 on each of the six charges. Agency costs of €9,545.50 were also awarded.
