EPA prosecutes Manders PIC Limited & Manders Coatings and Inks Ireland Limited

On 13th June 2016 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Manders PIC Limited & Manders Coatings and Inks Ireland Limited at Dublin Metropolitan District Court. 

Manders PIC Limited pleaded guilty to:

  • Failure to remove off-site for appropriate disposal or recovery at authorised facilities, all hazardous waste then located in the bunded warehouse at the facility (waste included bulk containers, drums and tins of solvent and ink waste, crushed tins and bags of pigment). Also failure to submit a copy of the waste records showing the removal of these wastes to the Agency, and maintain the original waste records on-site for inspection between 30th of April 2015 and  24th of November 2015.
  • From 26th of February 2015 to 24th November 2015, carrying on an activity, when no licence was in force in relation to the activity.

Manders Coatings & Inks Ireland Limited pleaded guilty to:

  • Failure to remove off-site for appropriate disposal or recovery at authorised facilities, all hazardous waste then located in the bunded warehouse at the facility (waste, included bulk containers, drums and tins of solvent and ink waste, crushed tins and bags of pigment). Also, failure to submit a copy of the waste records showing the removal of these wastes to the Agency, and maintain the original waste records on-site for inspection between 30th of April 2015 and  24th of November 2015.

The matter was deferred for sentencing on eight occasions. 

On the 7th February 2017, Judge Brennan convicted both companies and imposed fines totalling €4,000 on Manders PIC Limited and €3,000 on Manders Coatings and Inks Ireland Limited. Costs for both cases were awarded to the Agency.
