EPA prosecutes Monaghan County Council (Scotch Corner Landfill)

On the 28th of June 2017, the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Monaghan County Council at Carrickmacross District Court. 

The Council pleaded guilty to:

• On the 9th of February 2016, failing to comply with Condition 10.6, in that it failed to keep a written record for each load of waste departing from the Material Recovery Facility (other than those wastes removed by members of the public) in the manner prescribed by that condition.

• On the 9th of February 2016, failing to comply with Condition 3.18.4, in that it failed to maintain a containment kerb around the compactor for unsegregated domestic waste.

Judge McLoughlin convicted Monaghan County Council and imposed fines of €1,000 on each of the two charges. Agency costs of €15,000 were also awarded.
