EPA prosecutes Rosderra Irish Meats Group (Roscrea)

On 14th of December 2017, the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Rosderra Irish Meats Group (Roscrea) at Nenagh District Court.

The company pleaded guilty to failure to comply with conditions of its Industrial Emissions Licence Reg. No. P0181-01 by:

  • Failing to ensure that emissions to sewer did not exceed the emission limit values for Suspended Solids and Total Phosphorus from the 26th of August 2016 to the 27th of August 2016
  • Failing to ensure that emissions to sewer did not exceed the emission limit values for Total Nitrogen from the 5th of October 2016 to the 30th of May 2017
  • Failing to ensure that no substance was present in such concentrations as would interfere with the operations of a wastewater treatment works from the 26th of August 2016 to the 27th of August 2016
  • Failing to ensure that an Emergency Response Procedure was in place which addressed any emergency which may originate on-site and included provision for minimizing the effects of any emergency on the environment on the 27th of August 2016.

Judge McGrath convicted the company on all the charges and imposed fines of  €7,500 in total. The Agency costs were also awarded.
