Environmental Licensing Programme

The Environmental Protection Agency is responsible for regulating activities that have significant polluting potential. Our responsibilities encompass:

  • Integration Pollution Control (IPC) and Industrial Emissions Licences (IED)
  • Waste Licences
  • The contained use and deliberate release of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) permits
  • Waste Water Discharge Authorisations (WWDA)
  • Dumping at Sea (DAS)

Licensed activities are required to conform to best practice and all licenses and permits are routinely monitored to ensure on-going compliance with requirements.  Search for Licence/Permit application, licence details or annual report return to our desktop site.

The agency has developed a comprehensive range of guidance for the public, for license applicants, for licensees and for practitioners in relation to a good broad spectrum of environmental practice.
