Poznań Climate Change Conference
The 14th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) and the 4th Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol is happening over the next two weeks in Poznan, Poland. In total approximately 11,000 delegates will attend this conference with Government delegates to the UNFCC from 187 Countries along with representatives from business and industry.
These negotiations are to develop a new climate change treaty to succeed the Kyoto Protocol in 2012. This meeting marks the half way mark in the negotiations on an international climate change agreement which will conclude in Copenhagen in 2009. The participants have a little more than a year to agree on strenghthened action on mitigation, adaptation, finance and technology.
