Socio-Economic Workshop

A workshop to discuss the environmental socio-economic research strategy for the EPA ERTDI programme 2007-2013 was held on the 7th December 2006 in the Crowne Plaza hotel Dublin Airport. The workshop aimed to present an overview of current national activities and issues in this area and provide an opportunity to identify key priorities and consider how future research can contribute to addressing these.

EPA Research programme (2007-2013)

The objectives of the EPA research programme (2007-2013) are to build on the success of existing work carried out and to:

  • Increase and sustain the number of active, productive researchers in all Environmental-related disciplines at Third Level Institutions
  • Promote strategic alliances/partnerships among Irish (and non-Irish) researchers
  • Delivering applicable and relevant RTDI data, information and knowledge
  • Develop new techniques, methods and systems for measuring, recording and predicting the quality of the environment
  • Develop practical methods for the integration of environmental considerations into policies and programmes of the main economic sectors
  • Support the EPA's strategic goals through collaborative relationships
  • Disseminate findings of the research projects and the overall programme as effectively as possibleManage the research programmes effectively
  • Co-ordinate environmental research in Ireland.
