EPA Prosecutes ADM Ringaskiddy - Jan 30 2006, 3:30 PM On the 30th January 2006 at Cork District Court, ADM Ringaskiddy pleaded guilty to a charge brought by the Environmental Protection Agency in relation to an offence under Sections 8 and 84(2) of the Environmental Protection Agency Acts 1992 and 2003 for a breach of its IPC Licence (Reg. No. 53).
EPA Opens First EU Auction for Emissions Trading - Jan 27 2006, 9:34 AM The EPA has launched the first EU Auction for Greenhouse Gas Allowances under the Emissions Trading Scheme today. The Auction is open to anyone with a registry account listed on the Community Transaction Log, as operated by the European Commission. The auction provides interested parties with an accessible way to purchase allowances from a Government source.
EPA states that Good Air Quality cannot be taken for granted - Jan 24 2006, 4:55 PM Air quality was generally good throughout the country in 2004. Recorded concentrations of the pollutants of most concern, particulate matter (PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) were lower than in 2003. However, meeting stricter air quality standards in future years is not guaranteed, particularly in urban centres subject to heavy traffic.
