EPA Provides Real Time Air Quality Monitoring in Newbridge - Jan 19 2010, 3:15 PM
The EPA began assessing air quality in Newbridge on 01 October 2009 using an EPA mobile laboratory located in a central location representative of air quality in Newbridge. The assessment will take place over a period of approximately six months.

The new NUI Galway Water Research Facility at Tuam, Co. Galway was officially opened today by Michael Finneran, Minister for Housing & Local Services and TD for Roscommon-South Leitrim. Core funding to establish the facility was provided by the EPA through its STRIVE Research Programme, and by NUI Galway.

Sustainable Development Model predicts potential environmental impact of future economic activity - Feb 18 2010, 12:05 PM
New research, published today by the EPA, shows how economic forecasts can be used to project waste generation and emissions of pollutants across Ireland. The ISus (Irish Sustainable Development) Model is based on the work of a three-year study by the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), funded under the EPA STRIVE research programme.

Large reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2009 for Irelands Emissions Trading Companies - Apr 09 2010, 5:38 PM
Data submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the EU Commission show that emissions of greenhouse gases in 2009, for companies in Ireland covered by the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), are over 15% lower than in the previous year. This very large year-on-year reduction reflects the severity of the economic downturn, which began to have significant impact during 2008 and which is now very evident. It also continues a well established downward trend in our recorded emissions since the ETS commenced in 2005. In the EU as a whole, results for 2009 - from almost 10,000 installations in the ETS - show an overall reduction of over 11% on 2008.

A new research report from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows that the geology of West Clare is unsuitable for long term carbon storage, a key technology in the fight against climate change. The study, An Assessment of the Potential for Geological Storage of CO2 in the Vicinity of Moneypoint, Co. Clare, was funded under the EPA Climate Change Research Programme - with support from the Geological Survey of Ireland.
