The aim of this short guidance is to set out the Agency’s required approach to the application of measurement uncertainty to periodic air emissions monitoring (i.e. stack monitoring). This guidance sets out to clarify a number of issues associated with measurement uncertainty such as defining what measurement uncertainty is, explaining how measurement uncertainty is calculated and applied, and then setting out how to assess compliance with the ELV.  It also sets out the maximum measurement uncertainties acceptable by the EPA to assess compliance against emission limit values specified in IPPC & Waste licences, and then has a short description of rounding and significant figures for interpreting emissions data.
