Education

The Environmental Protection Agency's education programmes are primarily for young people, for whom the environment is both an inheritance right and a future challenge.

Our educational initiatives

Our initiatives aim to encourage thought, debate and action on the environment. These initiatives include:

  • Resource material for primary schools
  • Environmental games for 8 - 12 year olds
  • Resource material for second level schools
  • Sponsorship of EcoEye and other television programmes
  • A pilot programme for householders, Green Home, being developed in conjunction with An Taisce and sponsored by the EPA's National Waste Prevention Programme. Contact An Taisce's Education office for more information (01 4002218)
  • Conferences and seminars
  • Interactive exhibitions and occasional local Environmental Awareness Days

Fostering an attitude of personal responsibility among all our citizens is key to the proper stewardship of our environment.  It is a process of weighing the implications of human actions and balancing present and potential future costs.
