The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Doctoral Scholarship Scheme was launched in June 2001 as part of the call for proposals under Phase 2 of the Environmental Research Technological Development and Innovation (ERTDI) Programme 2000-2006 to provide scholarships to encourage graduates to undertake research in environmentally relevant sectors. This scheme will continue to build research capacity in Ireland under the Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for the Environment (STRIVE) Programme 2007-2013 Programme.
The objectives of the scholarship scheme are to:
Proposals for doctoral scholarships are invited periodically through advertised calls. The scheme is open to all full-time and contract academic researchers employed by third level colleges in Ireland who will act as project supervisors.
To date, the EPA has funded 154 doctoral scholarships. You can view the abstracts of the scholarhsips which have been completed.
