Enforcement Activities

Our Office of Environmental Enforcement (OEE) aims to deliver a quality enforcement service by managing resources as efficiently and effectively as possible.

The OEE has implemented a risk based approach to the enforcement of environmental legislation.  Risk based enforcement strategies align resources to the activities that pose the highest environmental risk, thereby making best use of resources.

See the OEE's Focus on Environmental Enforcement Report 2006 - 2008 for details of Ireland's achievements in the enforcement of environmental legislation and standards and the challenges we face in complying with European requirements for air, water, waste, noise and large industry.
