AER Draft Guidance for Consultation 2012

The Annual Environmental Report (AER) is a requirement for all EPA licensed facilities.  The Environmental Protection Agency is currently standardising the content of AER’s to collect only relevant, interpreted data. The content of the AER should give a concise summary of the environmental performance of the site for the reporting year as well as a record of on-going improvements on the licensed site.  This guidance document is intended to assist in standardising the reporting format of the Annual Environmental Report (AER).

The proposed format for reporting annual environmental information is contained in a series of templates prepared by the Agency. We encourage licensees to provide only the information requested in these templates.

Comments and feedback

The Agency requests that licensees complete their AER for 2012 (2011 information) using the templates linked in this document where possible.  These should then be merged and submitted in PDF format via the EPA’s AER / PRTR upload page.  If this is not possible please review templates considering reporting the fields of information contained within them in 2013.

The Agency intends to allow a 6 week window for submission/consultation on the AER templates, commencing 31 January 2012.

The deadline for feedback/consultation has been extended following requests from industry representatives to the 16th April 2012. The deadline for submission of the AER report remains the 31st March 2012

Read the consultation documents for AER standardisation and submit all comments and feedback to a.ryan3@epa.ie.
