Our Office of Environmental Enforcement (OEE) puts the environment first and encourages individuals and businesses to integrate good environmental practices into normal working methods. The OEE seeks to prevent environmental pollution before it has a chance to occur.
Prosecution is an important part of enforcement. It aims to seek redress for environmental pollution and avoid a recurrence.
The OEE considers the use of prosecutions in conjunction with other enforcement tools such as legal notices to implement specific measures to prevent or remedy pollution. Where the circumstances warrant it, immediate prosecution will be pursued.
The following is a list of prosecutions taken in 2006.
