In June 2009, the EPA commenced a review process that will eventually encompass all waste licences issued for landfill activities. The first tranche of reviews have been carried out on the licences for the 25 facilities identified below.
The following landfill licences were reviewed under Section 46(2) of the Waste Management Acts 1996 to 2008 and Articles 49(5) and 52(5) of the Waste Management (Licensing) Regulations, 2004.

On 19 October 2009, having taken into account, amongst other things:-
the EPA issued 25 Proposed Decisions (draft licences) to the licensees.
All Proposed Decisions are available to view on the EPA website and are subject, to a 28 day statutory objection period. Objections were made to 15 of the Proposed Decisions. The remaining 10 licences were issued as Final Decisions on 21 December 2009.
On 22 December 2009, the EPA initiated a review of the licence for Bottlehill Landfill, County Cork, waste licence register number W0161-01. The licence will be reviewed under Section 46(2) of the Waste Management Acts 1996 to 2008.
Landfill licences not listed above will be reviewed at a later date.
