The above index is for overall Air Quality in Zone D and not just at this station. The index is calculated based on the latest available measurements of ozone, nitrogen dioxide, PM10 and sulphur dioxide in Zone D.
The Valentia site is located at the Met Eireann observatory in Caherciveen, Co.Kerry. It is operated by Met Eireann as part of their ongoing observations on the vertical ozone profile.
Monitoring is done using a continuous monitor for ozone.
