Paper Reduction made simple

This Guide details how any organisation can reduce its paper consumption and is based on work done in Limerick County Council & the University of Limerick. The University of Limerick achieved a 32% reduction in paper consumption and Limerick County Council achieved a 15% reduction while improving the collection of waste paper for recycling arising from their activities.

The guide explains the steps involved in implementing such a project in your organisation including how to raise awareness and create a green team as well as highlighting easy individual actions that can achieve real savings, such as making sure that all of your printers default to two sided printing.

This guide was developed by the Limerick Clare Kerry Regional Waste Management Office in association with the EPA’s National Waste Prevention Programme.

TOP TIPS:

  • Turn off your printers when the office is shut
  • Ensure that all networked printers defalut to double sided printing
  • Buy copier paper with a high content of recycled fibre

Action Plan:

  • Look at the guide
  • Get buy in from management and talk to your colleagues
  • See how much paper you have bought in the last year
