EPA's Role

The Environmental Protection Agency has responsibility for:

• Reporting to the European Commission
• Developing Classification Systems
• Setting Standards
• Devising the Monitoring Programme

The EPA co-ordinates the activities of the River Basin Districts, Local Authorities and State Agencies in implementing the directive. We facilitate and carry out necessary research and participate at National and International meetings.
