EPA prosecutes South East Recycling Company Ltd.

On 10 April 2006 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted South East Recycling Company Limited at Wexford District Court.  The Company pleaded guilty to:

• Exceeding their annual waste tonnage limit for 2005 as set out in their licence.

• Accepting municipal waste which was not authorised by their licence

• Transferring waste to an off-site facility which was not agreed by the EPA. 

• Accepting waste outside the licensed hours of operation.

On hearing details of the offences from an EPA inspector, Judge Donnchadh O’Buachalla imposed fines totalling €8,500 and the EPA’s costs of €5,000 were also awarded.
