EPA prosecutes Honeywell International Technologies Limited

On 14 January 2011 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Honeywell International Technologies Limited at Lismore District Court.  The Company pleaded guilty to:

1. Altering the activity in a manner which resulted, or was likely to result, in a material change in the abatement/treatment systems, by switching off the afterburners on the compressor wheel ovens, without prior notice to, and without the prior written consent of the Agency;

2. Providing information which was false or misleading in a material respect regarding the operation of the afterburners on the compressor wheel ovens at the facility.

On hearing details of the offences Judge Earley imposed a fine of €2,000 on the first charge and €1,500 on the second charge.  EPA costs of €25,538.55 were also awarded.
