Programme Manager Waste and Local Authority Enforcement

The EPA is recruiting a Programme Manager who will be initially assigned to the Waste and Local Authority Enforcement Programme in the Office of Environmental Enforcement (OEE). The EPA operates within a constantly evolving environmental regulatory landscape. The individual should be able to demonstrate an appetite and aptitude for change, including taking on additional responsibilities when necessary. The person appointed will be responsible for the leadership and management of the EPA’s Waste and Local Authority Enforcement Programme. The successful candidate will lead this broadly scoped programme and manage teams made up of both technical and administration staff. The Programme has responsibility for leading and delivering programmes including Local Authority oversight, National Agricultural Inspection programme, National Waste enforcement and Producer Responsibility initiatives.

Scientific Officer I (Level 3) Climate Adaptation Scientist

This is an exciting opportunity to join the EPA’s Climate Adaptation and Behavioural Insights Team in the position of Scientific Officer I (Level 3) Climate Adaptation Scientist. The successful candidate will provide expertise, analysis and insight on climate change risk, adaptation and resilience in Ireland. The person will have a management role and be a valued member of a multidisciplinary team of technical experts in the areas of climate change impacts, risk and adaptation, and resilience planning and monitoring. A panel will be created from this competition, from which future Scientific Officer I (Level 3) Climate Adaptation Scientist vacancies in the EPA or the Secretariat to the Climate Change Advisory Council (CCAC) may be filled, in the EPA Regional Inspectorate in Dublin or Cork or EPA Headquarters in Wexford.

Position Paper Regulation 27 Consultation to inform development of Draft Guidance for Brownfield soil and stone by-product material incorporating a PFAS screen

The EPA has published a position paper for consultation as part of the development of national guidance for brownfield soil and stone by-product material. The guidance will clarify where brownfield soil and stone can be used as by-product or where it must be safely disposed of. This will assist developers and environmental consultants with brownfield soil by-product notifications. The planned guidance will use pollutant limit values for the protection of human and environmental health based on use scenarios and vulnerabilities of the site. Interim ambient concentrations are being examined for use as pollutant limit values for PFAS.
