Project Abstract
Ireland is making significant strides in harnessing its offshore wind energy potential, with ambitious
targets set to support sustainability goals. The Climate Action Plan 2023 and long-term objectives
highlight Ireland commitment to offshore wind development. The GRIP Anchor project will provide
crucial guidance for the next generations of floating offshore wind turbines as well as key technology
challenges in anchoring floating turbines in the harsh metocean conditions of the Celtic Sea and
Atlantic Ocean. Proposed by GDG, GRIP Anchor aims to support Ireland transition to a plan-led system under the
enduring regime and enhance national capacity, fostering economic growth and sustainability. Building on previous research, the project will bridge knowledge gaps in the supply chain and provide a roadmap for establishing an indigenous anchor industry, contributing to job creation and economic development through local production of anchor system post-2030. The Work Package framework and program of the Anchor Supply Chain project, in addition to meeting
the call requirements, will be strategically designed to optimize opportunities for leveraging and taking
the lead in international collaboration efforts.
