Project Abstract
Widespread adoption of solar PV systems and home/office EV charging is introducing stability concerns to the electric network in Ireland, due to the dynamic nature of solar generation and EV charging. Optimising EV charging with the ability to optimise the use of renewable and stored energy is a challenging problem which requires to be solved to further enhance the EV charging infrastructure. The aim of this project is to investigate the use of low-power and efficient AI models to predict the impact of renewable generation and dynamic EV charging, and to develop an automated smart controller that can manage the energy flow without requiring expensive upgrades on site or to the grid. The project will demonstrate and validate the developed AI-enabled smart energy management controller in a real-world setting.
