Project Abstract
RumenGlas, developed by GlasPort Bio, is a feed additive for cattle that reduces methane emissions. It's composed of natural ingredients and it is being delivered together with feed pellets. However, it would be of interest to extend the additive's activity while improving the shelf life of the product. Specifically, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are proposed for the very first time as delivery carriers for this type of feed additive since they have particular properties very useful for the intended use while being totally biobased and biocompatible.
