Project Abstract
The recent increase in global average temperature is mostly caused by CO2 emissions from burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas. It is widely accepted that to prevent the worst consequences of climate change, the world needs to urgently reduce the CO2 emissions. Our research aims to develop an approach that effectively transforms CO2 to valuable chemicals and fuels such as methanol. Methanol is an alternative fuel for powering vehicles and ships, and heating in industrial sections. We use low-cost and abundant materials, for example copper as catalyst to convert the CO2 to methanol.
