Project Abstract

In this project we will harness the latest state-of-the-art in spatio-temporal statistical models to substantially improve estimation of wind potential at a near real-time basis at precise spatial scales in Ireland using publicly available information from meteorological stations. The new wind energy maps will assist in optimising the placement of turbines for onshore wind, reducing installation lead times and feasibility costs. The maps will also aid in energy grid management.
