Project Abstract

Air Quality and Climate are coupled in a number of aspects: on one hand, emissions leading to poor air quality also can contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and on the other hand, improvements in air quality can reduce the particulate matter haze and cloud layers that can partially reduce the rate of global warming possibly resulting in accelerated climate change. Changes in meteorological conditions can also lead to changes in the frequency of air quality events. This fellowship will use state-of-the-art climate and air quality models to evaluate the effect of future climate change on air quality in Ireland and across Europe.
