Project Abstract

The objective of this desk study is to complete a review of waste and resource exchange systems leading to the development of a good practice guide. The main work elements of the project will include detailed research, involving online searches and reviews of documentation and importantly engagement with key stakeholders and policy makers who are active in the area. The final output, a good practice guide for resource exchange operators will be targeted at groups such as householders, business and industry. The aim of the guide is to support Resource exchange systems to maximise reuse exchanges and improve methods of exchange which in turn supports and delivers on the goals of the circular economy. A waste/resource exchange systems best practice guide is the main output from this study. The aim is to increase reuse exchanges and the methods by which items are exchanged. The increase in reuse leads to increased economic, social and environmental benefits to society. Any pertinent learnings from the study can be used to inform future policy. Articles and presentations will also be part of the communications strategy in order to circulate the guide as widely as possible and to target key stakeholder groups.
