Project Abstract
Economic: Our pilot will assist householders to reduce their bin charges. We will also investigate the development of new business ventures, including reuse, repair, leasing, industrial symbiosis, bioenergy, and social enterprises. We anticipate that the reduction of waste will also reduce littering and waste disposal costs for the county. Environmental: we will reduce household municipal waste by 25-50% over the 18 month pilot. We will work with local businesses to reduce non-compostable packaging, reduce plastic waste and promote the circular economy. We will share the results of the pilot with other communities through conferences, workshops and traditional and social media.
