Economic Benefits Project seeks to stimulate the development of options or outlets for management of contaminated plastics, avoiding landfill and associated costs and creating a resource. Benefits include; Economic appraisal of sustainable options for the management of the waste Divert this waste from landfill reducing landfill fees for processors Create a raw material market for recycled plastics in Ireland Environmental Diversion of contaminated plastic from landfill disposal Compliance with EU proposals for diversion of recyclables from landfill Increase in recycling Promotion through GreenEnterprise, Bord Bia Origin Green, Repak , meat sector, retail sector and company websites
