Project Abstract
Critical loads form the basis of the effects-based approach used to guide policy on reducing the environmental impacts of transboundary air pollutants, such as sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. The concept underpins the protocols of the Convention on Long Range Transport of Air Pollution (CLTRAP) and the National Emissions Ceiling (NEC) directive.
