Project Abstract

This project will make the McMahon process competitive by replacing fossil fuels with waste wood. The drying cost/tonne of shavings will be reduced from 98� to 20�, saving 3 jobs. bhsl will prove the viability of wet low-grade wood as a fuel source. The environmental impact will replace 240t of fuel oil annually with 1,200t of waste wood destined for landfill. CO2 emissions will reduce by 720t/year. The innovation has the potential to be exploited by other high energy users for similar projects. bhsl will promote the results through its website and through attendance at trade events and exhibitions.
