Project Abstract

The proposed research will provide the EPA with a better understanding of groundwater level and quality data in Ireland. This in turn will allow the EPA to better fulfil the obligations of current European legislation, namely the Water Framework and Groundwater Directives. The research will comprise (i) a literature and data review and the development of suitable databases, (ii) a routine set of data checks and analysis in order to produce a standard set of reports suitable for publication via the EPA website and (iii) a number of focused investigations into topics of particular relevance to Irish hydrogeology.
