Project Abstract

This project will increase the redistribution of surplus food by 1million meals in Ireland annually. Benefits include reduction of food waste (estimated >450 tonnes/yr), carbon emission savings (estimated 1,500tonnes CO2 equivalent/yr), cost savings for charities (estimated �1.3million/yr). This project will drive awareness of food waste in the food supply chain, providing a platform to increase engagement with the EPA's Food Waste Charter for Ireland. Participating businesses will have an increased positive environmental impact, increased employee engagement and reduced bin costs. The positive experience of participating organisations will be collated as case studies and promoted, encouraging other businesses to get involved.
