Project Abstract

This project will focus on sensing the health risk for cyclists related to environmental pollution, spatial constraints and interactions with other road users (cars, bus, etc). This will be achieved with the innovative application of ICTs to smart bikes equipped with sensors to measure personal exposure to pollution, road conditions and proximity to vehicles. The sensors-kit will communicate with a dedicated app which will provide real time alerts to the user. The dedicated app will also host on-purpose designed algorithms to recommend a greener route and a safer route to the user. These tools will contribute to reduce the health risk from environmental, spatial and dynamic factors for cyclists.
