Project Abstract

Building and supporting a network of charities in Ireland that have the capacity to work with donated surplus food is crucial to the creation of a food redistribution sector. This project lays the foundations in identifying and overcoming the challenges faced by charities so that ultimately the volume of surplus food that the sector can absorb can be maximised to achieve the goals of reducing food waste and increasing sustainability across the food supply chain. This increased capacity will result in an increase in the type of food business that can donate food. Results will be launched publically.
