Project Abstract
1 x CETAC Aridus II desolvating nebulizer (DSN). The DSN will greatly enhance the sample introduction system of the Neptune MC-ICP-MS resulting in a likely ten-fold increase in ion yield thus permitting isotopic analysis of very low (ppm to ppt) concentrations of trace metals. 1x low-blank HEPA filtered laminar-flow hood. This device will provide a clean air environment for the sample introduction system, thereby reducing the laboratory blank. It will also facilitate the clean storage of samples and standard solutions awaiting analysis. 1 x CETAC autosampler equipped with clean-air filters to facilitate automated aspiration of samples and standards. This will greatly enhance the throughput of samples and facilitate frequent sample-standard alternation, an important consequence of which will be improved correction of mass bias and hence improved analytical accuracy and precision.
