Project Abstract

Oran Precast Limited designs manufactures and erects reinforced concrete products including hollow core flooring portal and multi-storey frames.This project aims to minimise and recover waste arising from the following areas:Storage of raw materials - assessment of improvements in raw material storage facilities to improve quality of the production mix;Production process - purchase of equipment which will enhance the throughput of product on the hollow-core production line reducing the waste arising from manual marking and cutting operations on hollow-core beds;Storage and handling of finished products i? the design of fixture to support and evenly distribute the weight of product while supported on stilts and thus reduce the potential for cracks andRecovery of waste material - the purchase of equipment designed to recycle and recover waste from faulty or defective product.The benefits to the company will be:Greater productivity in terms of less raw material wastage and less product being wasted during the production process;Reduced costs of rework and transportation arising from damaged finished product arriving on site andReduced dumping of finished product on site in its raw form and ability to recover steel and reuse concrete as aggregate fill for roads etc. on site.
