Summary: This is the fifth EPA report in a new series of quarterly greenhouse gas emissions for Ireland to support more frequent monitoring of national and sectoral progress on climate action. This series complements the national greenhouse gas inventory and projections prepared annually by the EPA. Emissions in Quarter 1 2025 were up by 2.9% on the same quarter last year. This was mainly driven by increased emissions in the agriculture sector (+8.7%) due to increased fertiliser sales, and the Electricity sector driven by a 4.1% increase in electricity generation from fossil fuels.
