Project Abstract
The JusTACE project is a comprehensive initiative aimed at supporting and scaling up the just transition to the Circular Economy. Recognizing the complex challenges of transitioning to a sustainable circular bioeconomy, particularly within the deeply rooted traditional fossil-based agrifood supply chain, the project seeks to ensure an inclusive transition that leaves no one behind. The project will assess the potential socio-economic impacts of the transition at local, regional, rural, and urban levels, identifying holistic solutions for a just and inclusive transition. It will focus on addressing knowledge gaps and informing government policies and initiatives in areas of finance incentives. An analysis of financial incentives and systems affecting socio-economic impacts within the Irish Food System will be conducted using a living labs approach and expert panel guidance. The project will identify key existing circular business and collaborative consumption models, particularly those relating to the agri-food system. These models will be systematically evaluated for effectiveness, and successful practices and indicators will be shared widely to enhance peer learning and knowledge transfer, ensuring broader application and impact across different sectors and possibly internationally. The JusTACE project brings together a team of researchers with expertise in social sciences and in-depth stakeholder engagement through living labs. This collaborative approach is seen as an essential focus to the success of the project, contributing to the broader understanding and advancement of a just transition in the circular Bioeconomy.
