Project Abstract

My aim (Gemma O'Reilly) in acting as research specialist in socio-economic analysis and technologies will be to manage and coordinate a number of research projects to determine the most effective and efficient means of addressing the market failures leading to excessive greenhouse gas emissions in Ireland, to determine the most effective level and means of use of the Kyoto mechanisms and to determine technologies with potential to be developed in Ireland for greenhouse gas reduction domestically and internationally, with scope to enhance the Irish economy. In order to successfully bring forward such projects it will be necessary strengthen links with similar research being carried out in Ireland by organisations such Sustainable Energy Ireland, ERSI, Teagasc and also by international research bodies and programmes in this area.
