EPA and RPII Merger Action Plan

Date released: Jul 25 2013

Mr Phil Hogan, T.D., Minister for Environment Community and Local Government has approved the EPA - RPII Merger Action Plan.

As part of the Public Sector Reform Plan, the Government decided that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII) would be merged.  In January this year, the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government set up a Working Group to plan for and manage the merger to completion, including an action plan setting out the steps necessary to give effect to the merger.

Mr Brian Cawley, Director General of the Institute of Public Administration who chaired the Merger Working Group, presented the EPA - RPII Merger Action Plan to Minister Hogan on 22nd July for approval.

Development of this Action Plan is the first phase of the merger process. The next phase will involve the implementation of the Action Plan to meet the merger deadline of mid-2014.
